The SeisMic Sound Crew recently took time to sit down and discuss the future, where we thought long and hard about how to best serve the ever changing entertainment industry right here in town. As a team, we came to a consensus and are excited to keep expanding our movie endeavors! We love our music and TV work, but have brought on two additional engineers since 2021 to meet the increased demand for post production film work. Clients have had nothing but kind words for Kim Ferrell and Jade Dickey since they came on staff. Both of these gals specialize in various aspects of post production audio ranging from sound design and foley to ADR and mastering in Dolby Atmos. As a team, we were involved with six feature length projects over the past year, all of which led to great friendships! Working hard with like minded individuals to create magic for an audience never gets old. We want to keep that momentum rolling! SeisMic Sound is a well known name in the television and music broadcast world, but that’s not the case with film. We are now actively looking to partner with more bright filmmakers in our area, opening up our services to an even wider community. We have several films on our books for 2025, but are eager to add more!

Halfway through the year and we've been staying busy. It got posted on our socials, but here's another plug for the most rocking CMT Crossroads we've had our hands on in a while. Hardy and Nickelback got together in April and put on a great show! The guys were all big fans of each others' music and that made the whole thing a blast to be a part of. In other big news, we're incredibly proud of our intern, Jade Dickey, for graduating with honors from Belmont University this May! She took her degree and jumped right in to mixing and mastering feature films in Studio A, starting with Angel of Light, an indy thriller from the mind of Crue Smith. Her natural ear for creative sound design and piecing together a sonic environment really pulled the whole thing together. Jake is still music mixing like there's no tomorrow, playing a major part in recent releases from Dillon Watson, Emily Nenni, Teddy & the Rough Riders, The Montvales, and Rich Ruth. His talents made the mix for CMA Fest '24 one of our best yet! The show aired on ABC on June 25 and is now available for streaming on Hulu. Fest is always a whirlwind of post production here at SeisMic, but it's always one of our favorites. Three hours of music from the most popular names in country music today? Count us in! The fun doesn't stop there though, we also partner with BBC Radio to make sure our friends across the pond don't miss out on any of the action either. Tom and Jake are mixing those tunes while Kim has been heading up multiple ADR and VO sessions. Working directly with clients is one of her favorite parts of the job, so getting to do that while making the most of her on the fly engineering skills has been a great fit for her. Speaking of interactions, there's a great opportunity for one coming up on Saturday, July 13th! The annual Nashville AES Sale is happening at Bradley Studios that day from 10am to 5pm, so if you're in the market for used gear or want some expert advice, be sure to drop by.

We don't know about you, but we made January a month of self-improvements! We got the whole crew and a few friends from Remote Pro Group involved as we took a fine tooth comb to the Studio A set up. Details were important to us on this one as we installed a new Mac Studio computer with M2 chips and an expansion chassis to handle all the film work we've been doing lately. From updating our plug-in library, removing outdated outboard gear, using an impressive amount of zip ties to clean up cable management, to tweaking mix templates for upcoming projects, everything got a once over so that we're ready for the new year! Of course, that didn't take us all month. There was time for Kim to head down to Abilene, Texas as an A2 for the 2024 West Texas Rehab Telethon. They were able to raise $1.7 million during the five hours on air which will all go towards providing patients with quality care regardless of their financial status. Getting a little break from post for live work was a trend for Jake too as he spent much of January working with a Nashville based artist to create the soundtrack for a feature film! We can't share too many details yet, but we're super proud of him for knocking this one out of the park. As always, thanks for checking in and be sure to follow us on social media for more regular updates!

Happy New Year’s Eve! The whole crew is currently sitting in a production truck right in the middle of Bicentennial Park in Nashville going through dress rehearsal as we prepare for Nashville’s Big Bash to go live on CBS tonight at 6:30pm cst! Jade is still learning the ropes of live production while Tom acts as music A1 for all the performances coming out of Brooklyn Bowl and Kim works alongside Jake as ProTools Operators. Even before this show, this month has been incredibly busy. We worked with CMT for yet another Crossroads show! Bret Michaels and Chris Janson rocked the house together and made sure to include plenty of those famous harmonica solos. On the film side of things, the trailer for Clone Cops dropped in late November! Mixing that was a great little throwback to our first feature film of the year. The Good Fight screening was also a success! It was amazing to see the film in a theatrical space and have main cast, crew, friends, and family all together to watch the movie. The story has tons of heart and we’re very proud of how it all came out. Just to keep busy, Kim and Jade partnered with a group of Vanderbilt film students in order to help them bring a short film project to life! The spoken word poetry about love followed through a quirky set of circumstances was a fantastic opportunity to let our creativity with sound design run wild. They hit everything from battling robots to phone calls with death, so we’re hoping it does well in the festival circuit. It’s been a great year here at SeisMic and we’re excited for all that 2024 has to bring! Happy New Year and rock on, friends!
November 7, 2023
This month is when we like to take some time to be a little extra thankful. We count ourselves as incredibly lucky to work in such a beautiful facility, with great coworker dynamics, for wonderful clients on incredible projects. For example, Jake was able to work on Flight of the Long Distance Healer which released earlier this week. It has many choice details to reward a careful listener, so we hope you’ll check it out. Meanwhile, Kim and Jade have finished up their work on The Good Fight and are excited for the screening on November 30th! More details about that will get posted to our social media later this month. Right now however, it’s all hands on deck for the 57th CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena! Jake has been working on the nominee packages at the studio while Tom oversees the entire audio department on site. Kim is passing out mics and running cables as a production A2 again this year so the fun fact she’s discovered is that the top of her head doesn’t even come up to Peyton Manning’s shoulders. Peyton is hosting again this year alongside Luke Bryan to celebrate some of country music’s best. Tune in to ABC tomorrow night at 8/7c to catch the show!

Spooky season is here, but we appear to be a little ahead of schedule when it comes to holidays. The whole crew, intern included, went down to Belmont this past week as we started filming for CMA Country Christmas at the Fisher Center. We’ve been having a great time with our seasonal snapshot and are excited to add a little extra Christmas magic before the show airs in December! What you can enjoy right now though, is an article from the New York Times featuring an interview with Tom and Jake! They got to share some industry tips and tricks on what it takes to bring a concert to the big screen and give a glimpse behind the post production curtain. Meanwhile, Kim and Jade are at it again, working on sound design, dialogue editing, and foley for our third feature film so far this year! The Good Fight, from Holleyland Productions, has everything from boxing matches and bar fights to counseling sessions and bedtime prayers. As always, thanks for checking in on our news and hope you have the day you deserve!

Studio B is up and running like never before! It is now a great looking mix room fit for hosting clients and a brand new VO booth setup. Technical details and new photos will be showing up on The Studio page soon, as well as some posts on all of our socials so be sure to check that out! Speaking of Studio B, it’s been busy recently as we have officially brought on Jade Dickey as our college intern. She was a big part of the sound design, foley work, and dialogue editing as she assisted Kim with Clone Cops. We had a final watchdown on August 15th and it was amazing! This project got the whole crew excited for more film work because it was a welcome addition to our usual music and broadcast television work, and so much fun to be a part of. Other fun works recently include an Atmos album that Jake was able to co-produce with Luke Schneider. Jake described the atmospheric album as, “chicken soup for the new age soul,” and we loved that. Before the end of the month, we will be wrapping up the post audio work for David Van Hooser’s feature length documentary which details various humanitarian efforts that are being made to care for the internally displaced people of Ukraine. It is a very touching film that we hope can inspire and bring about positive change once it is completed and available for public viewing.
June 28, 2023
We've definitely been keeping busy for the past few months! We try hard to find a good balance of live productions and post work in the studio, so Tom was able to fly out and assist with the taping of Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 in April, Kim was an A2 for the filming of a TV pilot, and Jake can often be found at the Grand Ole Opry working for Circle TV. The 79th episode of CMT Crossroads hit the air on May 16th as The Black Crowes and Darius Rucker got to play music from just steps away from the Texas State Capitol. The month of May also gave us an opportunity to catch up with our good friends who work with Billy Joel as he and Stevie Nicks played an incredible concert at Nissan Stadium! Then as part of a special opportunity earlier this month, Tom was thrilled to join the crew for Manilow - Live in New York City for five outstanding concerts in Radio City Music Hall! It was a good time to appreciate music that makes us all smile. Upon his return to Nashville, he and Jake have jumped head first into mixing CMA Fest which you'll be able to catch on ABC on July 19th! Kim has been tackling quite a bit of post production administration, continuing to fine tune the sound design for Clone Cops, and head up the Studio B redesign. These improvements have made ADR sessions with remote monitoring one of our new favorite capabilities. Tom was able to hop in on the NHL Awards this past week too! There is certainly no lack of activity here which is why summer always goes by so fast. Hope you're enjoying it as much as we are!
March 22, 2023
Big update this month as we’ve been doing some spring cleaning here at SeisMic. Be it updating gear, selling off some older equipment, or just vacuuming up insulation and saw dust after our major improvements to Studio B, we’ve been using this time to prep for some awesome work! We have a brand new ADR and VO setup that is optimized for remote observation. Using a small series of cameras and an Orei HDMI multi viewer, we are able to stream live audio straight from ProTools along with video feeds from our engineers, actor, and Avid Media Composer to anywhere in the world. It’s been great for out of town producers wanting to listen in on sessions with local talent. While Kim heads up that side of our operation, Jake has also been diving deep into music mixing in Dolby Atmos! Be on the lookout for releases from some of our favorite indie bands from the Nashville area. As for that sci-if project we mentioned in February? We are thrilled to be working with Hi Phi Productions on their feature length film Clone Cops! In an alternative future, a gang of outlaws defend their hideout from a replicating police force until they discover a shocking secret about who they are and what they’re up against. Our recent music and film endeavors have been a great addition to our typical TV work! The crew will be heading out to Austin soon to take part in the filming of the 79th episode of CMT Crossroads and then the 2023 CMT Music Awards which will go live from the Moody Center at 8/7 c on CBS. As always, we hope you tune in and enjoy the show!
February 23, 2023
A busy start to the year is good news for us! The crew has been doing some major work in Studio B to get it rocking at a professional level. You can check out more in depth progress updates on our social media as we add in elements like a brand new Mac Studio M1 Max, Avid S1, custom sound panel installation, and more! All this work in the B room hasn't put other work on pause though. The 78th episode of CMT Crossroads featuring Jimmie Allen and For King & Country will air next week, February 28th at 10/9c. It's a great show that marks the 20th anniversary of Crossroads. Music is the heart and soul of SeisMic, but we are happy to be delving into film more as well. If sci-fi/comedy is a your genre of choice, you'll love what we have in the works for later this year with some of our good friends here in Nashville. On a more serious note though, we recently began working alongside David Van Hooser as he's creating a documentary about the people of Ukraine and the humanitarian efforts that are underway to save them. As the one year anniversary of this war arrives, this project is very dear to us and we look forward to bringing the incredible story to life on screen through the top quality sound design it deserves.
December 2, 2022
Even though this calendar year is wrapping up, it doesn't mean we've slowed down at all. Yesterday evening we got to host an intermediate film class from Vanderbilt University! Kim, our studio manager, took time to lead them through the basics of mixing for film at a professional level. It was great to see such a good group of students excited to join the industry. This month, be on the lookout for CMA Country Christmas on ABC and a special Christmas episode of CMT Crossroads. We plan to end the year with a bang as the SeisMic crew will all be on set to help bring you Jack Daniel's New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash on CBS. Never want to miss an update? Make sure to follow us on social media!
November 10, 2022
This past week has been a big one here at SeisMic Sound! The album for Billy Joel: Live at Yankee Stadium was released on Apple Music, making a collection of Billy's biggest hits available to everyone in immersive Dolby Atmos! Shortly after that, the BlueRay also became available, meaning anyone can watch the film and get that live concert feeling as many times as they'd like. Of course, November 9th was the 56th CMA Awards and once again the SeisMic team was on set to help things go smoothly. It was a great night for country music and a reminder for why we love Nashville so much. Thanks for checking in!
October 7, 2022
Billy Joel: Live at Yankee Stadium hit theaters this week! Prior to its release, just a short clip of Billy singing Scenes From an Italian Restaurant was played at this year's Sound for Film and TV Symposium. “It was just stunning,” says Tom Kenny, co-editor of Mix. “Here we are, with clips from Bullet Train, The Batman, The Woman King and others—and Billy Joel steals the show. We think it’s the first concert film to be released theatrically in Atmos, and it absolutely showcased the pure power of the performance. You don’t even have to be a Billy Joel fan; it’s a must-see for anyone who loves live music, period.” A short online article about the Dolby Atmos Mix for the film was released by Mix Magazine as a teaser to a full length article that will come out sometime in November. We hope you're able to get out to a theater and love this wonderful bit of cinema as much as we do.
September 20, 2022
While this month has had our team doing international travel, CMT Crossroads filming, and some ADR work, the most exciting part of September is definitely the birthdays! Both Jake and Kim got to celebrate their birthdays this month and enjoy some time with family and friends to celebrate another great year. Jake continues to be have a driven creative spirit that makes him a joy to collaborate and work with on a wide range of projects. Kim is settling into her role as studio manager and loving the client relations part of our work here at SeisMic Sound. Thanks for checking in!
August 3, 2022
We are thrilled to announce that Tom Davis & Jake Davis's work will be showing in theaters around the world on October 5th and 9th. Working alongside music mixer Jay Vicari and audio producer Brian Ruggles to bring this concert to life in Dolby Atmos was both a privilege and a joy. In celebration of 50 years of Billy Joel, one of the most iconic concert films of all time, “Live At Yankee Stadium,” is coming to cinemas for a special two-night global fan event to be seen and heard like never before. Re-mixed and re-edited, the 1990 concert features new music and behind-the-scenes interview footage previously unseen. You can read more about this incredible project here, purchase tickets starting on August 10th, or catch a sneak peek of We Didn't Start The Fire from Billy Joel's youtube channel.
August 2, 2022
Be sure to tune into ABC tomorrow night at 8/7c to watch CMA Fest! This three-hour primetime concert special brings Country Music’s Ultimate Fan Experience to a national television audience. The show is hosted by Dierks Bentley and Elle King this year, and features songs by over 25 different country artists. We had a great time working on it here at SeisMic, so we hope you enjoy it as it goes live on Wednesday, August 3! You can watch it on the TV or stream it on a mobile device. We think it sounds best in a 5.1 setup, but we could be a little biased.
July 19, 2022
Our Summer Technology Showcase within Skyway Studios was an absolute success! It was great to see so many friends come by. We were able to give in-depth tours of both Studio A and Studio B as people came through to tour the facility. We also got to see some pretty cool tech from our friends at Monolith Studios, Triad-Orbit, and Nashville Lighting and Grip Inc. Kim has really gone ham with the recent media updates, so if you'd like to see some pictures and videos, be sure to check our Facebook, LinkedIn, or brand new Instagram page!
July 6, 2022
The SeisMic Sound team is excited to partner with Skyway Studios and invite you to attend a building-wide open house event on July 19th from 2 pm - 7 pm! We don't always have an opportunity to bring people out to see us, but this upcoming showcase is a great time for you to come by. We'll be showing off our updates to Studio A which is now equipped to mix in Dolby Atmos with our 9.1.4 set up, as well as our brand new Studio B. Again, we would love to see you there and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out using the "Contact" tab!
June 18, 2022
Studio A is now a certified Dolby Atmos 9.1.4 room! A new array of Kali speakers that have been tuned and calibrated has made the room sound better than ever before. Even in 5.1 and stereo, it’s pretty stunning. We also installed a 4K video projector and new screen.
We just finished up the 5.1 and Atmos mix of Billy Joel’s 1990 Yankee Stadium concert. It is slated to be released theatrically worldwide to celebrate his 50th anniversary.
May 23, 2022
The SeisMic Sound team is getting bigger! Kim Ferrell will now be with us year round. Now, instead of coming in from time to time amidst other commitments, she will be in the studio on a regular basis.
We are also officially welcoming in Jake Davis as lead mix engineer! He is a talented mixer that we are excited to have here at SeisMic going forward. Be on the lookout for updates here, on our Facebook, and our newly set up LinkedIn page. Thanks for checking in!
March 26, 2022
As technology in the entertainment industry changes and adapts, so do we! Tom Davis was able to work with Harris-Elff Audio Resources to do a remote mix for the iHeart Radio Country Concert. You can check out the article here.
November 28, 2021
We were incredibly lucky to be a part of "One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga" which is now available to stream on CBS. We put a piece of our heart into every project here at SeisMic and this was no exception. Very thankful for the opportunity to work on such great show.
July 2, 2021
This fourth of July will feature the largest fireworks show in Nashville history! Tom Davis will be on set doing a broadcast mix for this event as Brad Paisley takes the stage in downtown Nashville. If you can't make it downtown, CNN will be broadcasting part of the show this year.
June 13, 2021
SeisMic Sound is happy to congratulate our intern on winning her first Emmy! "Wild Winds: Spirit of the Bison" won the Non-Fiction Short Form category, earning Kim Ferrell a Crystal Pillar Award from the Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of our team here.
May 28, 2021
Since our five year hiatus seems to have upset our new media intern, we are back with SeisMic News! This summer, CMA has decided to host CMA Summer Jam at Ascend Amphitheater in lieu of Fest, but you can still catch the broadcast on ABC later this year! We're working on getting back into the game here since so many things have changed in the past year. We are still committed to serving clients well and producing the best sound possible for all sorts of shows and events. Thanks for checking in!

As technology in the entertainment industry changes and adapts, so do we! Tom Davis was able to work with Harris-Elff Audio Resources to do a remote mix for the iHeart Radio Country Concert. You can check out the article here.
